The Bird Streets

 

The cousin to Trousdale Estates, the Bird Streets is a cluster of streets just east of Beverly Hills, above the Sunset Strip. Like Trousdale, the area was primarily developed in the ‘50s and ‘60s, and, like Trousdale, many of the original homes have been bulldozed to make way for bigger, splashier modern boxes (a term in LA real estate used with affection … or not, depending on your client). The Bird Streets are a hilly area and many of the properties have fantastic views. But bring Dramamine.

Soho House (if you have to Google what Soho House is, you probably won’t get in), Maxfield for a wardrobe with that Carine Roitfeld fashion editor vibe, Rose Tarlow Melrose House for furniture for the Aspen house, Melrose Place for an elegant European-style shopping street, Cecconi’s for lunch, lots of clubs that I wasn’t cool enough to get into, even in my 20s.
